Bill Turner's primary area of practice since graduating from Stanford Law School in 1962 has been in the field of eminent domain and inverse condemnation litigation. During the period from 1962-1971 Bill was employed by the State of California in the Caltrans legal division where he tried numerous cases involving eminent domain and public liability law throughout Northern California. Since 1971, Bill has been in private practice. Over the last 40 years Bill's law practice has been almost exclusively representing landowners and business owners in eminent domain actions brought by governmental agencies to acquire their property interests. Bill holds the highest lawyer rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

EXPERIENCE

Represented owners of property in Merced County which had been formerly used as a quarry in an action brought by the State Department of Water Resources to acquire approximately 689 acres. The State's original offer was $229,000. Compensation ultimately paid was $3,205,328 plus a $1,823,450 litigation expense award.

Represented owner of property in the Town of Los Gatos in an action brought by Caltrans to acquire a portion of that property. Caltrans' litigation appraiser's opinion of just compensation was $4,048,981. Compensation ultimately paid was $6,469,840 plus a $688,605 litigation expense award.

Represented owner of unimproved property in the Town of Los Gatos in an action brought by Santa Clara County Traffic Authority to acquire a portion of that property. The Authority's original offer was $1,550,000. Compensation ultimately paid was $3,350,000.

Represented owner of unimproved property in the City of San Jose in an action brought by the Santa Clara Valley Water District to acquire that property. The District's original offer was $1,474,000. Compensation ultimately paid was $4,694,314.

Represented owner of unimproved property in the City of San Francisco in an action brought by Caltrans to acquire that property. Caltrans original offer was $850,000. Compensation ultimately paid was $1,241,258 plus a $355,617 litigation expense award.
